April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th of July. She started guitar and piano lessons from age seven. Her passion for making music was ignited. April Lockhart composed her debut song, Different, at age of twelve. When she was 14 April devoted a great deal of time to writing songs and practicing her music. In the following months she began to take notes together with her dad in LA as well as NY. April began also to incorporate different topics related to some members of her circle who deal with such things as bullying by peers and teenager suicide, as in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart is a lifestyle and beauty influencer with a growing following. She collaborates with famous brand Ilia together, along with being a specialist in lifestyle. She was born without a left hand. This gives her a unique look. However, this isn't the only characteristic of her. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability on her account on Instagram, but she doesn't place it in the spotlight of her account. What's the message? The message? We have many different aspects, that our identities and physical selves don't always reflect what appear. Lockhart in a video message from Nashville's home declares that I do not want this to be a part of me. I'm much beyond my physical self. The issue doesn't affect my everyday routine. I carry on doing my job as normal and have found different ways of adapting. Since it's a part of who I am I think it's worth discussing. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon however Lockhart truly inspires me regarding this issue. She still admits to going through a series of phases with regards to her body and feeling uncomfortable in certain clothing that exposed her arms. Now, though she dons anything she likes and uploads photos of herself wearing those clothes to social networks with pride. Self-love, she explains, is a kind of journey. "I believe that you'll ever get there," she said. It's a journey, I'm sure that you never reach your destination. People you spend time by who are truly yours and who can look into your heart, are those that will help you remember why it's important.
